The Strand Theatre

Re-imagining “The Strand Theatre” as Micro Theatres.

The project aims to serve as a catalyst for the city of Dorchester. It focusses on highlighting and celebrating the process, the behind the scenes, in relation to the theatre which eventually lead to the final product or destination.

The idea was to open up the building, in order to activate the city as well as the street by increasing the buildings transparency and accessibility, making it more porous and visually permeable. Essentially Blurring the boundaries between the city and the building

The idea is to create micro theatres or small studio spaces that could function as studios that surround the interior shell, which is the theater. A space that looks into the theatre and also allows people to look into their work in progresses.
